Carburetor – General Chainsaw Adjustment
Adjusting the carburettor involves adjusting the engine to the local conditions e.g. climate, altitude, fuel and type of two-stroke oil. The carburettor is equipped with three adjustment options.
L = Low speed jet
H = High speed jet
T = Idling adjustment screw
The L and H jets adjust the fuel flow to match the airflow that the throttle valve opening allows. Turning them clockwise makes the fuel/air mixture weaker (less fuel in relation to the amount of air) and turning them anti-clockwise makes the fuel/air mixture richer. A weak mixture increases the engine speed and a rich mixture decreases the engine speed. The T screw controls the throttle position when idling. Turning the T screw clockwise gives faster idling; turning it anti-clockwise lowers idling speed (see manual for complete guide).

Husqvarna 543 XP is a light and effective saw developed for tree care professionals and skilled landowners. The combination of low weight and high chain speed leads to efficient limbing work. Our unique X-Torq engine technology provides more power where you need it, including up to 20% less fuel consumption and 75% less exhaust emission.
Great all-around saw. It’s not the most powerful you can find, but it can still handle most of the medium use.
Pros
- Lightweight
- Great for limbing
- High chain speed
Cons
- Price
- No snap-lock cylinder cover
Design
Slimmed-down design
The chainsaw is easy and convenient to handle in any situation thanks to its low and slender body.
Felling marks
Distinct, colored marks on the chainsaw body used for aiming the direction of tree fall.
Retained bar nuts
This function prevents losing the bar nuts.
Side-mounted chain tensioner
Easier access to chain tensioning device compared to the front tensioning.
Snap-lock cylinder cover
When you need to change anything inside the saw or do some cleaning, you just pop the snap-lock on each side of the saw and you’re good to go.
Air Purge
When pressed, it removes air from the carburetor and fuel system for easy starting.
Adjustable oil pump
You can control oil flow based on application and weather conditions.
Visible fuel level
The fuel tank is transparent, so you can see how much fuel is left.
Durability
Three-piece crankshaft
Forged three-piece crankshaft for maximum durability for the toughest applications.
Air Injection
The centrifugal air cleaning system prevents larger dust and debris particles from reaching the air filter. In return you get improved engine life and less maintenance cleaning the air filter. All Husqvarnas have this.
Magnesium crankcase
Sturdily built crankcase withstands high RPMs and tough professional use. This ensures a long service life.
Safety
LowVib
The vibration dampening system called LowVib is present in all Husky chainsaws. Metal springs in the engine suspension reduce vibrations felt by the operator. This allows you to work longer without your hands getting exhausted and it also prevents developing medical conditions.
The front handle and hand guard are offset by 7° to provide more natural holding position.
Inertia activated chain brake
In case of kickback the inertia mechanism will stop the chain from running. This significantly reduces the risk of injury.
Performance
There are several things that make starting the saw easy, such as the auto return stop switch or the Smart Start, which reduces the amount of cord pulls you have to make before the saw starts running.
X-Torq
Probably the best thing about newer Husqvarna saws. It reduces emissions by up to 60% and fuel consumption by up to 30%. You spend less on gas and breathe less fumes. It also makes the saw CARB compliant.
