Starting the Stihl MS 261 C-M chainsaw by pressing the button, the decompression valve will be opened. The decompression valve is closed automatically when the engine fires for the first time. For this reason, press the button again before each additional starting attempt. You can flood an M-Tronic chainsaw quite easily if you’re used to old saws that required holding the throttle open to start.

You may need to RESET the M-Tronics, which is easy to do.

Sometimes hard starting problems can be malfunctioning solenoids that control the fuel mixture.
