Older Stihl chainsaw models generally did not have any vibration reduction built into the saws. The ones that did had the letters “AV” in their names to signify they offered an anti-vibration system. All Stihl chain saws, and most Stihl power tools, have AV systems now, so there’s no longer a need for the AV designation.

The 1.5 millionth Stihl chainsaw to come off the Stihl assembly lines was a 020 AV model. Produced in the 1970s. They were in production for over 25 years, The old 020AV top handles were the forerunners of the 020T chainsaw model.
